Your decision to get married is an enormously important one. Because of this, great attention is given to make sure that it is successful, satisfying and permanent. In addition to performing the actual ceremony, counsel is given about God’s blueprint for a healthy marriage. Great care is also given to making sure that any potential threats to a healthy marriage are identified and addressed. Agreement on the part of the pastor to counsel is not an agreement to perform the ceremony. The pastor reserves the right to make that decision based upon information revealed during counseling.
It is required that the prospective couple does the following:
1. Fill out the attached application and send it back as soon as possible.
2. Attend several premarital counseling sessions with the Pastor.
3. Visit the homes of Christian couples for a meal and ask “the marriage questions.” See list below.
4. All couples applying for marriage must have faithfully attended this church for at least six months. Additionally, it is required that all couples agree to abstain from all sexual relations from this point until the wedding. Couples currently living together must also separate until the wedding.
